Same friends service
Players on one platform can open the active friend-game list, or join with the code instead.
Big Walk Join Code
Big Walk creates a new Join Code every time the host starts a session. Before the game begins it waits in the corner of the host menu; once you are in the world, open Menu → Session Details. Share the current code, and your friends choose Join Via Code.
Invitation flow checked Sep 2026. The two menu positions above are the ones the host uses in the current build.
Group size, world settings and save ownership sit around the same session, and they are collected in the Co-op overview.
1. Start your session
Start or continue the save you want everyone to join.
2. Find the code
Before loading in, it sits in the corner of the Host Menu. Once you are in the world, open Menu → Session Details.
3. Share the current code
Send it only to the players you want in this game.
4. Share the password if the session has one
Friends need the current password as well as the code.
5. Stay in the session
Your friends are joining the game you are running right now, so the code lives only as long as you do.
Only the host can read it, and there are two moments to look.
The host should start the game and load into the world before anyone tries to join. A session still sitting in the setup menu is not reachable yet, and two players waiting at their own menus will each blame the code.
The Join Code belongs to the session the host is running, not permanently to the save or the account.
Both routes reach the same hosted session. Pick the one that matches the group.
Players on one platform can open the active friend-game list, or join with the code instead.
Use the Join Code. It reaches the session without needing a shared friends list.
That version has no Game Center friends-game list, so use the Join Code.
These are two different things, and mixing them up is the usual reason a join fails.
Finds and identifies the hosted session that is running now.
The separate gate that controls who is allowed to enter that session.
A code on its own does not keep strangers out. Set a password if you want the session to stay with the people you invited.
Yes. Open Session Details while the session runs and change it there. Share the new password only with the players you want in.
Yes. Every time the host starts a session, the game issues a new, unique code.
Session A
Code 123456
Session B
Code 654321
When the host stops and starts again, the first code is no longer the current one.
“Do not reuse a code you saved from an earlier Discord or chat message. Ask the host for the current code.”
A new code does not mean a new save. The same host reopens the same journey and simply gets a fresh code for it.
Hosting & Saves →Four checks cover most joins where the code itself looks correct.
1. Is it the current code?
Ask the host to reopen Menu → Session Details and read it again.
2. Is the host actually in the world?
Two players waiting at their own menus will never meet.
3. Did the host restart or crash?
If the session was recreated, request the fresh code.
4. Is there a password?
Confirm the current password, not the one from an earlier session.
Confirm that the host is still inside the live session and that you were given the current code.
Open the Multiplayer TroubleshooterYes. Players on different platforms can reach the same supported Big Walk session with a code, and neither side has to be on the other’s friend list.
Check Platform CompatibilityKeep your Join Code and password off camera. Anyone who can read the code can attempt to join the session.
Before the game begins, the host menu shows it in the corner of the screen. After loading into the world, the same code is listed under Menu → Session Details.
Where the code lives →Yes. The host receives a fresh code every time they start a session, so the one used yesterday will not open the game running today.
Why codes change →Only while the session that produced it is still running. A code kept from an earlier session cannot find the host any more.
Why codes change →Wait until the host has loaded into the world, choose Join Via Code, then enter the current code and the password if the session has one.
Joining steps →Yes. A code is the most straightforward route into the session when the group is spread across different platforms.
Crossplay guide →Only if the host set one. The code finds the session; the password decides who may walk in.
Code and password →The Join Code identifies the hosted session. The password is the separate gate that controls who is allowed to enter it.
Code and password →Start by checking that the host is still inside the live session and that you are reading the current code rather than one from an earlier game.
Connection troubleshooter →Yes. Open Session Details while the session is running and change it there.
Code and password →That version has no Game Center friends-game list, so a Join Code is the way in.
