How Do You Play Big Walk With Friends?

There is no random online matchmaking. One player hosts. That host keeps the save.

Option A — Platform Friends

The Join Code is unique to each hosted session. Before start, it sits on the host menu. After start, it is in Session Details.
Mac App Store players should use the Join Code. That storefront has no Game Center friends list.
A session password is recommended.

Versions don't match
Big Walk version numbers have three parts, e.g. 1.4.8. Only the first two numbers need to match for multiplayer compatibility; the third can differ.
Can't host or join any game?
This can indicate a connection problem with Epic Online Services.
