Do You Need the Folding Map?

The Folding Map is the game’s portable navigation tool and is especially useful for coordinate-based clues.

Recommended / intended tool

It is the in-game map you carry for landmarks, routes and number-style clues such as 4166 / 1899.

Not a proven hard requirement

Nothing here claims you cannot finish a coordinate puzzle without it. Teammates, other positioning, or outside knowledge can still get you there.

What Is the Folding Map Used For?

It is the portable map you take out of the Map Room, not a database entry and not the website map.

  • Find your position relative to landmarks

    Read the island and its regions so towers, rooms and trails sit in relation to each other.

  • Follow coordinate clues

    Use it when a clue is a number pair such as 4166 / 1899.

  • Plan routes between towers and transport

    Place the Map Room, Train, Chairlift, Tunnels and challenges on one picture before you walk.

  • Identify areas before using the website map

    Learn the in-game layout first, then search the interactive map for a specific challenge, key, transport or item.

How Coordinates Work With the Folding Map

    Read the number clue.

    Use the Folding Map's grid / navigation system.

  3. 3

    Travel to the indicated location.

In-game map coordinates such as 4166 / 1899 are clue numbers. Website world positions use a separate X / Z system and are not the same thing.
