Plan Your Big Walk Session
Three questions. We will suggest a world setting, a join method and who should host.
How many people will reliably be there?
Count the players you expect to stay for the whole session, not everyone you invited.
Are you playing on different platforms?
Will the same person be available next time?
The host owns the save, so a host who comes back keeps the journey going.
Your Session Plan
Answer the first question to build your session plan.
Session Size ≠ World Setting
Two different things, and mixing them up is the most common co-op mistake.
Session size
2–12 players
How many people can be connected to the game.
World setting
2 / 3 / 4+
Which version of some challenges the host loads.
A 2-player world is not a 2-player lobby limit.
How Big Walk Multiplayer Works
Four steps from an empty lobby to a session in progress.
1. Pick the host
The host owns the save and keeps the group’s world progress.
Hosting & Saves →2. Choose a world setting
2 Players, 3 Players or 4+ Players, based on the smallest reliable group.
Player Count →3. Start the session
Friends join through the friend-game list or a Join Code.
Join Code Guide →4. Walk together
Solve puzzles, explore and talk through Big Walk’s in-game systems.
Which World Setting Should We Choose?
Choose for the smallest group you reliably expect to have, not the biggest group that might join.
| Only 2 players, reliably | 2 Players |
|---|---|
| At least 3 players, reliably | 3 Players |
| At least 4 players, reliably | 4+ Players |
| 6 invited, but often only 3 stay | Consider 3 Players |
How Do Friends Join?
Use the platform friend-game list, or the Join Code the host’s session shows.
Full Join Code GuideCan We Play on Different Platforms?
Yes. Crossplay is supported across the current versions.
Check CrossplayWho Should Host?
The host holds the journey, so choose them with that in mind.
- The host keeps the save and everything the group has completed.
- Continuing that journey later means the original host starting it again.
Prefer the player who is most likely to come back over the fastest connection.
How Hosting & Saves WorkSolo Play & Matchmaking
Can I play alone?
Not as a full playthrough. You can start a game alone and explore a little, but you will not get far without a group.
Does Big Walk have matchmaking?
No. You organise your own group, join friends, or connect with a Join Code.
Why Does My Puzzle Look Different?
Some challenges use separate 2-player, 3-player and 4+ implementations. The platform does not change the layout — the host’s world setting does.
Concert, Ring Room and Cabin Fever change with the setting.

Start from what you are seeing. Each entry opens the matching fix.
I can’t find my friend’s game
The session is not showing on the friend list.
Join Code doesn’t work
The code is rejected or finds nothing.
Wrong password
The session password is not matching.
Crossplay error
The two platforms refuse to meet.
Version mismatch
One player is on a different build.
Host disconnected
The session ended for everyone at once.
Do You Need a Microphone?
No. Big Walk supports both in-game voice and text chat.
Communication is part of the puzzles, so use the in-game systems rather than an outside voice call if you want the intended experience.
