Big Walk Big Goodbye Achievement: Finish the Game

Big Goodbye is the first ending achievement. Finish the main ending flow — you do not need full completion or Big Game first.

Spoiler-light answer

Big Goodbye unlocks from completing Big Walk’s first/main ending. It does not require 100% completion.

Big Goodbye comes before Big Game.

Quick Answer

Complete Big Walk’s main ending route and finish the first ending sequence. Big Goodbye is tied to the first ending’s completion flow — the closed runtime medal hook sits in that ending’s completion menu, not in the Final Gauntlet, the Ending Key or the Ending Gate opening.

If you have only reached the gate, or finished the seven final rooms, keep going — the ending itself still has to complete.

Big Goodbye is the first ending state. Big Game is the later, full-completion ending on the same save.

The ending route has world-setting variants depending on player count, but Big Goodbye is the same first-ending achievement in all of them.

Achievements

Big Goodbye vs Big Game

Two sequential completion endpoints on one save. Big Goodbye is first; Big Game follows the later completion route.

They are not either/or branches. They happen in order on one save, so a missing Big Game cannot be what is holding back Big Goodbye.

Where Are You in the Ending?

Pick what you have actually reached. The answer names the state you are missing.

I haven’t reached Black Tower

The ending route is still ahead of you. This is late-game progression, not an achievement problem.

These checks use the same late-game marks as the Endings and What to Do Next pages. The site stores them locally and never reads your Steam or console account.

How to Unlock Big Goodbye

⚠ The quick answer, the diagnostic and the troubleshooting steps below stay spoiler-light. The route itself only appears when you ask for it.

Final Gauntlet

Big Goodbye Not Unlocking?

Work down the list. The first check that is still true is the one to fix.

1. Did you actually finish the first ending?

  • Black Tower done?
  • Final Gauntlet done?
  • Ending Gate open?
  • First ending completed?

The first three are route states. If only those are true, the ending still has to finish.

Endings Guide

2. Did you stay through the ending-completion flow?

Do not quit or force-close as soon as the finale starts. Finish the normal completion flow before treating the achievement as missing.

3. Check the in-game or platform achievement list

If the pop-up did not appear, confirm whether Big Goodbye is already recorded before replaying anything. Notifications and the achievement list do not always update at the same moment.

4. Continue the same host save

If the real problem is that the ending state did not carry over when you re-joined, that belongs to co-op hosting and saves rather than to the achievement itself.

Hosting & Saves

5. Do not replay the seven rooms immediately

The trigger is not Room 7 completion. Confirm the achievement state first — replaying the whole Final Gauntlet is the most common wasted trip.

Do I Need 100% for Big Goodbye?

No. Big Goodbye is not the 100% achievement, and Big Game does not need to come first.

None of these is part of the recovered Big Goodbye condition.

  • Full completion (100%)

Completing every puzzle, gourd and reward belongs to the Big Game layer. Follow the main ending route and finish the first ending flow instead.

  • Big Game first

The order runs Big Goodbye first, then Big Game. A missing Big Game cannot be blocking the earlier achievement.

  • Clearing all seven rooms

The Final Gauntlet is the route into the ending. Its room count is not the medal condition, and no special wave timing or step is published for it.

  • Opening the Ending Gate

An open gate is a prerequisite state. The medal closes after the ending that follows it.

  • An exact number of puzzles

No specific puzzle tally is published as a Big Goodbye requirement. Main-ending progression and challenge completion are counted separately.

  • An exact number of gourds

Gourd totals belong to the completion tracker. Big Goodbye does not read them.

  • A credits timestamp

The achievement is tied to the first ending completion flow, so no moment in the credits is published as the trigger.

  • Pressing Continue repeatedly

The completion-flow action is part of the normal ending, not a sequence of menu inputs to brute-force. Finish the ending normally.

  • Being a missable ending choice

Big Goodbye and Big Game are sequential states on one save rather than mutually exclusive branches, so you are not locked out by picking the “wrong” ending.

After Big Goodbye: What Comes Next?

Big Goodbye is not the end of what that save can do.

  1. Big Goodbye
  2. Post-game on the same save
  3. Big Game completion route

Post-game, the Overflow route and the later ending each have their own pages. This leaf only owns the achievement state.
