How Long Does Big Walk Take to Beat?
Big Walk is built to be played across several evenings with the same group, and the ending arrives when your group is done — not on a timer. Treat everything below as planning, not as a stopwatch.
The rest of the island, from puzzles to endings, is routed from the Big Walk Guide home page

Finished groups have run
~9h · ~12h · ~17h
Quick answer
Plan for roughly 10–15 hours to reach the first ending, but read that as a range rather than a runtime. Finished groups have come in around 9–12 hours, while larger or more curious groups take noticeably longer. House House has not published one fixed number.
Chasing 100% adds time on top of the first ending. Community figures often sit in the high teens, and they move as more groups finish.
Planning ranges by goal
| Goal | Planning range | What it is based on |
|---|---|---|
| Reaching the first ending | ~10–15 hours | Finished runs of about 9–12 hours, with room for a group that takes its time. |
| A wandering first run | 15 hours and up | Groups that follow every path instead of the towers they are pointed at. |
| Full completion | Longer than the first ending | No fixed figure has been published, so this one stays open. |
What Counts As Beating Big Walk?
Three different goals get called "finishing the game", and they take very different amounts of time.
Reaching the first ending
The main journey, from the opening area to Big Goodbye. This is what the range on this page describes.
Finishing everything
The first ending, then the challenges, rewards and post-game objectives your group did not pick up on the way.
Reaching Big Game
The last layer, and the one that needs the most of the world completed first. It is a completion goal, not a longer story.
The endings and the completion layers each have their own guide, so this page does not redefine them. See the endings →
How These Numbers Were Put Together
Playtime figures for this game come from three places, and they do not carry the same weight.
Confirmed by the developer
- ✓ The game is a long-form adventure with a real ending
- ✓ It is designed for the same group to play across several sessions
- ✓ The host saves the journey, and the same host continues it
- ✓ World settings for 2, 3 and 4+ players change part of the world
Groups that finished the game
These are individual runs, not an average. A group that explores will not land on these numbers.

Community estimates
Completion figures for 100% are community estimates. They differ between sources and shift over time, so none of them is quoted here as a fixed length.
How Long Does 100% Take?
Full completion runs longer than the first ending, because optional challenges, rewards and post-game objectives are still open when the credits land.
How much longer depends on your own save. A group that already cleared most challenges as it travelled has far less left than a group that beelined the towers.
See what's still requiredWhat Makes Big Walk Take Longer?
The spread between a nine-hour run and a seventeen-hour run is mostly the group, not the game.
- Getting lost — the game rarely points at your next objective, so route-finding eats time.
- Talking it through — much of the game is working out how to describe what you can see to each other.
- Poking around — groups that walk down every path and open every door simply play longer.
- Bigger groups — more people can search at once, but they also take longer to regroup and agree.
- Puzzle pace — one puzzle can take five minutes for one group and half an hour for another.
Does Player Count Change How Long It Takes?
Yes, but not in a straight line — and more players is not automatically faster.
The 2, 3 and 4+ settings change parts of the world, so the work in front of you is not identical between them. On top of that, a bigger group splits the searching but pays for it in coordination.
The finished runs on this page disagree with each other for exactly that reason: two three-player groups came in three hours apart. There is no published chart of 2-player versus 3-player versus 4+ times to compare against.
Compare the player countsHow Many Evenings Should You Plan?
Pick the length of a normal session for your group and this converts the range into evenings.
First ending at 3-hour sessions
4–5 evenings
Add a spare evening if your group likes to explore.
Keep the same host for every session so the journey carries over. How hosting and saves work →
Based on a 10–15 hour first ending.
Do You Have to Play It in One Go?
No. Nothing is lost when you stop for the night.
The host saves the journey automatically, and the next session continues from where the group stopped. That is why the multi-session design matters more than the hour count: you are planning several short runs, not one long one.
Hosting and savesCan You Finish It in One Night?
Only as a very long sitting, and that is not how the game is built to be played.
The fastest finished groups were still around nine hours, which is already past a normal evening. Most groups should plan several sessions instead.
Skipping challenges can shorten a route, but it is there as an accessibility option and it changes what your group actually completes.
What Happens After the Ending?
The journey ends, and the same save keeps going. There is more to do in the world, and the later goals are tracked separately from this page.
Big Walk Playtime FAQ
Route post-jeu
